Despite air traffic controllers canceling a strike after last-minute talks, air travelers to and from Paris faced significant disruptions on Thursday. Flight operations were greatly reduced due to schedule adjustments made in anticipation of the proposed industrial action.
French civil aviation authorities had asked airlines to cut their flights substantially — by 75% at Paris-Orly, 55% at Charles-de-Gaulle, and 65% at Marseille-Provence, with varying reductions at other French airports. This led to severe limitations on operations, affecting international flights that pass through French airspace.
Although operating flights experienced only minor delays, many flights were canceled or rescheduled, causing continued travel woes for thousands of passengers. The impact was particularly felt at major airports like Paris-Orly, where delays added to the day’s challenges.
