In a world where tech meets green innovation, Sustainable Metal Cloud (SMC), the Singapore-based AI cloud provider, is gearing up for a global adventure. Riding the wave of skyrocketing demand for its energy-saving technology, SMC’s CEO, Tim Rosenfield, shared exciting expansion plans on Thursday.

“Client demand is driving us to spread our wings into EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and North America,” Rosenfield enthused.

A proud partner of AI chip behemoth Nvidia, SMC is already a force to be reckoned with in Australia and Singapore, boasting “sustainable AI factories.” The company is now setting its sights on new horizons in India and Thailand. With over 1,200 of Nvidia’s cutting-edge H100 AI chips humming away in Singapore, SMC is pushing the envelope by running open-source models like Meta’s Llama 2.

Most data centers are still stuck in the past, relying on outdated air cooling methods. SMC, however, is shaking things up with immersion technology. This innovative approach slashes energy consumption by up to 50% compared to the old-school air cooling methods.

As the International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts a tenfold surge in AI demand compared to 2023, the stakes are high. Data centers around the globe are projected to guzzle over 1,000 terawatt-hours of electricity by 2026 – that’s on par with Japan’s total annual consumption!

But SMC isn’t just riding the tech wave; it’s making waves in the financial world too. The company is in the midst of raising a hefty $400 million in equity and $550 million in debt, according to an insider.

So, keep an eye on SMC – they’re not just building the future of AI; they’re making sure it’s a greener one too.
