Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, is gearing up for a significant expansion with plans to recruit 6,000 new employees in Taiwan this year. The recruitment drive will primarily focus on filling positions at its fabs and offices in key locations such as Hsinchu, Taoyuan, Miaoli, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung.

However, this recruitment campaign will not extend to TSMC’s overseas factories, including its recently launched fab in Kumamoto, Japan. Despite this, TSMC’s global footprint is expanding, with new projects underway in the Arizona and Germany.

TSMC is offering competitive salaries to attract top talent, particularly engineering graduates with master’s degrees. The company stated that graduates can expect to earn NT$2 million (US$63,300) per year at the start of their career in Taiwan, highlighting the company’s commitment to investing in talent development.

To attract potential candidates, TSMC participated in a job fair at the National Taiwan University (NTU) in Taipei City, showcasing opportunities alongside other leading companies such as Dutch semiconductor machinery maker ASML Holding N.V. and Bank SinoPac.

This event at NTU is just the beginning of TSMC’s recruitment efforts, with plans for 19 campus events across Taiwan and four online recruitment meetings in the pipeline. These initiatives demonstrate TSMC’s dedication to building a diverse and skilled workforce to drive innovation and maintain its position as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing.
