The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 is set to take place in Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The Philippines, one of the host nations, has unveiled its definitive 12-player roster for the upcoming tournament.
Coach Chot Reyes stated, Our primary consideration was selecting players who we believe will give us the strongest chance of securing a victory.
Leading the roster is Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson, who will represent Gilas Pilipinas for the second consecutive summer. Clarkson’s performance in August 2022 during the World Cup Asian Qualifiers showcased his prowess, averaging 25.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists over two games.
Notably, emerging big man talent Kai Sotto has also secured a spot on the final roster.
The Philippines has been placed in Group A for the World Cup, alongside Angola, Italy, and the Dominican Republic. The tournament will kick off on August 25th.
