Costa Rica’s foreign minister informed his Honduran counterpart that the visa requirement was prompted by a rise in criminal groups and the presence of Honduran hitmen in the coastal town of Limon. In response, Honduras imposed a similar visa requirement based on reciprocity shortly after Costa Rica’s announcement. Both countries will implement these visa requirements starting on Tuesday.
