Get ready for the clash of generations! The upcoming boxing bout between former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and social media sensation turned boxer Jake Paul is already generating buzz. Set to take place on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and streamed globally on Netflix, this event is shaping up to be the most heavily bet on boxing match of the year.
Tyson, at 58 years old, will step into the ring to face the 27-year-old Paul in an 8-round professional bout. Despite Tyson’s last professional fight dating back to 2005, the excitement surrounding his return remains palpable. Fans are eagerly securing their tickets, with many lining up for the chance to witness this historic event.
Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the company co-owned by Paul and promoting the event, has reported overwhelming interest. More than 121,000 fans have signed up for presale access, and tickets officially go on sale next Thursday. A unique $2 million VIP package is also on offer, including two ringside seats, an exclusive pre-fight locker room photo opportunity with both fighters, and luxurious accommodations.
For those unable to secure the VIP package, secondary market sites like Gametime are offering tickets starting at $357, with ringside seats going for as much as $8,067 each. BetMGM is already taking bets on the bout, with odds favoring Jake Paul (-145), although 70% of the money is being wagered on Tyson.
“This is the type of mega-fight that will draw in multiple demographics: Tyson supporters, Jake Paul haters, and casual sports fans,” said Alex Rella, senior trader at BetMGM. With financial terms undisclosed, it’s clear that both Tyson and Paul are set to make significant earnings, they are expected to make eight figures.
As Netflix continues its push into sports, it will stream the bout for free to all subscribers.
The stage is set for an epic showdown that transcends generations. As the anticipation builds, one thing is certain: the Tyson vs. Paul bout is set to make a lasting impact on the world of sports entertainment.
