In July, Croatia saw a modest dip in foreign tourist arrivals, totaling 4.0 million—down 2.8% from the same month in 2023, according to the latest report from the national statistical office. Despite this slight decline, the number of overnight stays by international visitors remained steady at 23.4 million, suggesting a stable yet subdued interest in the Adriatic jewel.
On a more positive note, local tourism showed robust growth. Domestic tourist arrivals surged by 7.2%, reaching approximately 377,000, and their overnight stays climbed 8.0% to 1.7 million. This indicates a strong local engagement with Croatia’s tourist offerings.
Looking back at 2023, foreign tourist numbers for the year were up 10% to a record 16.855 million. Tourism remains a cornerstone of Croatia’s economy, generating about 20% of its GDP, highlighting the sector’s critical role in the nation’s financial health.
