Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, marking a historic return to the White House after a four-year hiatus. The inauguration ceremony took place inside the U.S. Capitol rotunda due to frigid weather conditions, a departure from the traditional outdoor setting. The event was attended by several former presidents, including out-going president Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush, as well as prominent figures from the technology industry such as Tesla’s Elon Musk, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Apple’s Tim Cook, and Google’s Sundar Pichai.

In his inaugural address, President Trump declared the end of America’s decline and the beginning of a “golden age,” emphasizing his commitment to reversing the policies of the previous administration. He outlined plans to prioritize national prosperity and security, including increasing domestic oil production, imposing tariffs to bolster American manufacturing, and sending troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to combat illegal immigration. Trump also touched on cultural issues, advocating for a merit-based, color-blind society and recognizing only two genders.

The inauguration was notably different from traditional ceremonies, with a limited audience due to the cold weather and heightened security measures in downtown Washington. Supporters celebrated in the streets and at the Capital One Arena, where performances by artists like Kid Rock and Lee Greenwood took place. The inaugural parade was moved indoors to the arena, featuring military and civilian marching units from various states.

Following the ceremony, President Trump signed a series of executive orders aimed at implementing his “America First” agenda. These actions included declaring a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexico border, withdrawing from the Paris climate accord, and establishing a Department of Government Efficiency. Trump’s return to office, overcoming previous impeachments and legal challenges, signifies a significant shift in the nation’s political landscape as he embarks on his second term with a Republican-controlled Congress.
