Dubai-based digital infrastructure firm Edgnex, a subsidiary of the Damac Group, has announced a landmark $2.3 billion investment to build a state-of-the-art data center in Jakarta, Indonesia. This project marks Edgnex’s second major facility in the country and is set to become one of Southeast Asia’s largest AI-focused data centers, reflecting the region’s surging demand for advanced digital infrastructure.
The new Jakarta data center will feature a projected capacity of 144 megawatts, purpose-built to support high-density artificial intelligence workloads and scalable cloud services. Land acquisition for the site was finalized in March 2025, and construction is already underway, with the first phase expected to be operational by December 2026. The facility is designed to meet global sustainability standards, targeting a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.32 to ensure energy efficiency.
This investment is part of Edgnex’s broader strategy to expand its digital footprint across Southeast Asia, where the company has committed over $3 billion to date. In addition to the new Jakarta campus, Edgnex is developing a separate 19.2MW data center in the city’s MT Haryono area, scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2026. The company aims to reach more than 300MW of operational capacity across the region by 2026, with ongoing projects in Malaysia and Thailand as well.
Indonesia’s rapidly growing digital economy and increasing adoption of AI technologies have created a pressing need for robust, energy-efficient data infrastructure. Edgnex’s latest investment is expected to help bridge the country’s digital divide, support cloud service providers, and power the next wave of innovation in Southeast Asia. According to Damac Group founder Hussain Sajwani, the project underscores the company’s commitment to supporting digital transformation in high-growth markets.
