On Monday, Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin announced that the Thai cabinet has approved an extension of visa-free stays in Thailand for Russian tourists. Starting this November, the duration will increase from 30 days to 90 days in an effort to stimulate tourism.
Russian tourists in Thailand have become a notable presence in the country’s vibrant tourism landscape. Drawn by Thailand’s exotic charm, diverse landscapes, and warm hospitality, Russian travelers have increasingly found themselves exploring the enchanting destinations and unique cultural experiences that the “Land of Smiles” has to offer.
In recent years, Thailand has extended a welcoming hand to Russian visitors, reflecting the enduring appeal of this Southeast Asian gem to travelers from the vast and diverse nation of Russia.
Prime Minister Thavisin elaborated on the weather patterns in Russia, noting that the winter season typically sets in from December through March, characterized by extremely cold conditions. Russians often seek respite from this harsh climate by traveling abroad, and a one-month stay, such as the current visa-free arrangement in Thailand, may fall short of meeting their needs. Consequently, the cabinet has made the decision to prolong the visa-free stay period.
In the past, Thailand provided visa exemptions to visitors from China and Kazakhstan, spanning from September 25th to February 29th.
