In a bid to enhance traveler experience and expedite immigration processes, Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency (NIA) has ramped up efforts to install new e-Gates at Taoyuan International Airport. Reports indicate that 19 new e-Gates have already been installed as part of the first phase, with an additional 24 gates slated for completion by August 1.
The move comes as a significant upgrade to the existing e-Gate system, which has been in place since 2011 and has seen over 100 million travelers pass through Taiwan’s airports and harbors. The project to replace older e-Gates was initiated last year, aiming to introduce more advanced features and languages to streamline the immigration process.
The new fourth-generation e-Gates promise improved convenience for travelers, with Taoyuan Airport expected to complete the replacement of older gates by the end of this year. Other airports and harbors across Taiwan are set to follow suit by 2025.
Even before the introduction of the new e-Gates, Taoyuan Airport had already earned accolades for its passport control system, being ranked as the fifth best airport in the world by Skytrax. The NIA has noted that the new system not only enhances convenience for travelers but also maintains high standards of security.
With the installation of these new e-Gates, Taiwan is poised to further solidify its reputation as a traveler-friendly destination, offering a seamless and efficient immigration experience for visitors from around the globe.
