The anticipation surrounding Tesla’s Cybertruck pickup has been unprecedented over the last four years, resulting in a substantial reservation list whose exact size remains undisclosed. However, key details like the price and range of the Cybertruck remain a tantalizing mystery, even as the vehicle’s delivery to consumers is expected in just a few weeks.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has indicated a delivery timeline by the end of the third quarter, likely in September, which is only about five weeks away. Unlike typical automakers, who usually provide such specifics well ahead of product launches, Tesla has chosen to maintain this secrecy until market release.

Hyundai’s subsidiary, Genesis, has taken a different approach by unveiling specific details about its GV70 all-electric SUV in February 2023, preceding its sales commencement in March the same year. Priced at $66,450 with a range of 236 miles, the GV70 represents Genesis’ first model manufactured outside South Korea. Hyundai’s other offerings, the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, pose strong competition to Tesla and other electric sedan makers, boasting a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $41,600 and showcasing a noteworthy 56% increase in all-electric vehicle sales year-over-year.

Kia, an affiliate of Hyundai, has also made significant strides in the electric vehicle market. With models like the Niro EV crossover, priced at $39,550 with a 253-mile range, and the EV6 crossover, which offers a 310-mile range with an MSRP of $42,600, Kia sold over 132,000 EVs globally in 2022. Now, Kia is entering the Chinese EV market, challenging established players like Tesla and BYD with the introduction of its Kia Concept EV5 sports utility vehicle. This move involves launching the EV5 initially in China before expanding its availability worldwide. The EV5 features a distinctive design inspired by Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, integrating advanced lighting technology and an 82kWh battery promising a range of around 373 miles. The EV5’s price range for the South Korean market is anticipated to be between $38,000 and $43,800.
