In 2025, BMW is set to reintroduce the iconic Neue Klasse, but this time, it’s making a grand entrance in the electric vehicle world. This revival promises an entirely new IT and software framework, along with cutting-edge high-performance powertrains and batteries. BMW’s vision for this rebirth was shaped by prior concept vehicles, specifically the BMW i Vision Circular from 2021, highlighting sustainability through recycled materials, and the BMW i Vision Dee, focusing on digital innovation.

The unveiling of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse is eagerly anticipated at the IAA Mobility 2023 show in Munich. Its design reflects a leap into the future, featuring expansive surfaces and reimagined BMW elements like the iconic kidney grille and Hofmeister kink. The interior offers more space than expected, featuring the next-gen BMW iDrive infotainment system for a fresh digital user experience.

Analog controls are minimized in this visionary BMW, with multifunction buttons, the central dashboard display, and the BMW Panoramic Vision creating seamless interaction between the driver and the vehicle. The innovative BMW Panoramic Vision projects crucial driving information onto the windshield’s lower area, enhancing user interaction.

The Neue Klasse symbolizes a significant shift in BMW’s strategy, emphasizing sustainability, resource-efficient production, and recycling. The electric powertrain boasts the sixth-generation BMW eDrive motor, coupled with a new battery architecture featuring round cells. This innovation translates to a 20% increase in energy density, 30% faster charging, and up to a 30% boost in driving range, with a remarkable 60% reduction in CO2 emissions during battery cell production.

Production of the first Neue Klasse models will commence in Debrecen, Hungary, at an eco-conscious factory in 2025. BMW plans to expand production to Munich in 2026 and San Luis Potosi, Mexico, from 2027. The initial lineup will include the 3 Series sedan and a sporty SUV, with at least six models slated for launch within the first 24 months.

By 2030, BMW aims for Neue Klasse vehicles to account for more than half of its sales, with a goal to align range and production costs with traditional internal combustion models. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse represents a new era in individual mobility, marrying digital experiences, environmental responsibility, and the timeless joy of BMW driving.
