Hanwha Ocean sails ahead with $127 million LPG carrier order

Hanwha Ocean Co., the renowned shipbuilder, recently announced securing a substantial 176.4 billion-won (US$127 million) order to construct a cutting-edge liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier for an esteemed client based in the Americas. This achievement further solidifies Hanwha Ocean’s position as a key player in the global shipbuilding industry.

The new vessel will be meticulously crafted at Hanwha Ocean’s state-of-the-art shipyard in Geoje, located on the picturesque south coast of Korea. Scheduled for delivery by the first quarter of 2027, this project represents the company’s unwavering commitment to delivering excellence and innovation.

In a remarkable display of prowess, Hanwha Ocean has already secured a series of lucrative orders this year, totaling $3.39 billion. These include 12 liquefied natural gas carriers, two very large crude carriers, two ammonia carriers, and one LPG carrier. This follows a successful 2023, where the company amassed orders worth an impressive $4.1 billion.

Having embarked on its journey as Hanwha Ocean last year, following its acquisition by the esteemed Hanwha Group, the former Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. continues to chart a course towards unparalleled success in the maritime industry.
