In a significant stride toward expanding its global footprint, LS Cable & System has landed a major contract valued at approximately 200 billion won from Singapore’s Power Authority. Announced on April 10, the deal is a cornerstone of a larger green energy initiative, which aims to transport solar power generated in Indonesia to Singapore. Under the agreement, LS Cable & System will supply 230kV high-voltage cables for the underground transmission network, handling everything from production to installation through a comprehensive turn-key approach.
This contract aligns with Singapore’s ambitious energy policy to shift 25% of its electricity—around 6 gigawatts—to renewable sources by 2035. As part of this push, the nation has opted to construct its transmission grid entirely underground, avoiding the need for overhead towers. This strategic move has fueled a rise in demand for premium underground cables, placing companies like LS Cable & System at the heart of the transition. The company’s proven track record and cutting-edge technology positioned it as a strong contender for this highly competitive project.
Looking ahead, LS Cable & System is in talks to expand its involvement with additional underground cable contracts that could push the total value to nearly 350 billion won. A company spokesperson highlighted that this milestone reinforces LS Cable & System’s reputation for innovation and dependability. Furthermore, the success of this venture opens the door for broader opportunities, including the submarine cable sector. Already a leader in Singapore’s high-voltage cable market for over a decade, the company—together with LS Eco Energy—is eyeing new frontiers, such as a bold project to carry offshore wind energy from Vietnam to Singapore, signaling a dynamic future for renewable energy connectivity in Asia.
